Our destination is the Village of Aiyos Mamas, at 600 meters above sea level in Trodos-Pitsilia Mountain Range also known as the Commandaria District*. In this district you can find nature trails for the hikers and the 4 x 4 wheel drivers. Byzantine churches, monasteries and much more...
Village of Aiyos Mamas is renowned for its Commandaria wine, olive oil and wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables. Aiyos Mamas is small village with old and restored village houses. Beautiful walks-hikes from the village through the local forest, with streams of water flowing through the Limantis River most of year round. The small population is very friendly and hospitable.
Dorina Cottage is a restored traditional stone two floor village house, modernised to a high standard with out losing it's original character. Dorina Cottage is located in the centre of the Village of Aiyos Mamas.
The 180 sq meter cottage, Sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms: 1 master bed room with double bed, and 2 bed rooms with twin beds (all beds with orthopaedic mattresses). All bed rooms have ceiling fans and are fully air-conditioned, although you should know that the weather in the summer in Aiyos Mamas at 600 meters, is dry and cool at nights.
2 bathrooms: one with shower and bide; and another with bathtub.
Large Living room beautifully furnished with fire place. Fully equipped and very spacious kitchen, (including fridge, gas stove, oven and micro wave). Large dinning room. Private courtyard and balcony with great views of the mountains.
The Cottage is also connected to Satellite T.V: CNN, BBC, SKY, FOX, Bloomberg, many film channels, Arutzim: 1, 2, 10 and much more.
You can cater your self or be catered for. One of the treats of this village is Stella, she will look after all your needs, and especially cook for you delicious local Cypriot food at which she is an expert at.
The village is located only 20 minutes by the recently restored and widened road to Limassol. 20 minutes drive up to Mt Olympus (at 1951 meters above sea level) for skiing in the winter. 20 minutes from the Forest Park Hotel at Platres with a great swimming pool. 25-30 minutes to the closest beach in Limassol. 75 minutes from Larnaca Airport and 60 minutes from Paphos airport.
Only 15 -20 minutes away, you can find wineries that produce wonderful high class wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon , Shiraz and other wines. Wonderful local taverns with great food.
There are plenty of things to do:
Nature Walks with running water in streams. Such as "Caledonian Falls" and more..
Exploring other quaint stone villages, not more than 15-20 minutes from our village.
Our favorite beaches, Avdimou Bay or Pisouri Bay are 45 minutes away by car double benefit on the way you drive though typical Cypriot Terraced Landscape with Carob Trees , goats, sheep and shepherds . Or the more popular beach in Limassol 30 minutes away.
Taverns with good food and music in Limassol 25 minutes away. We know them all.
Family Taverns in mountains with delicious food.
Stella our neighbor who will come and cook for you at the cottage the best Cypriot Food and all she charges is £CYP 5 an hour for her time.
A Grocery store in the village.. and even super market not far away..
Delicious fresh mountain water running through the taps of the house.
In short a real treat.
